The past couple of days, along with some other craft projects, I've made a couple of Valentine's crafts to make our apartment a little more festive (because the party lights just aren't enough I guess...). Today I wanted to share my two little Valentine's Day projects with y'all :o)
In yesterday's Enchantment Tuesday I shared a embroidery hoop wreath that I loved so yesterday I decided to make my oen Valentine's embroidery hoop.
I started with an old t-shirt Brandon originally donated to our cleaning supplies.
I cut out a big square and put it in the embroidery hoop, pretty simple.
Then I cute some hearts out of leftover red felt (used for Christmas ornaments) and the word "Love" out of my trusty old dictionary. I didn't have any glue except Mod Podge so I used that to attach the hearts and word and it worked fine. I think its cute hanging in our room.
I planned on making a Valentine's wreath last week but ended up making a Ribbon Wreath instead. So, on Monday morning at 6am I made our Valentine's wreath. I did not get up this early just to make this wreath but got up for school, got the call it was cancelled, was too awake to go back to bed, and needed something to do.
For my 6am wreath project I used a wreath we made out of my grandparents grapevines for the wedding. I made flowers out of doilies (left over from our wedding) and attached them with florist wire. Finally, I made a heart out of wire and random pink beads and attached it.
It's so nice to have another wreath on the door. It looked so empty and sad after taking down the Christmas wreath. Perhaps I'll start on my Valentine's today...
Hello!
ReplyDeleteLovely ideas - my daughter married in October and I have a few left over doilies! I like the flower idea -
Hope you are warm and safe - 49 out of 50 states have snow right now - we're all hunkering down!
God Bless<
Kathy
Thanks for visiting Kathy. Doilies make wonderful flowers. I dunno what I'll do when my supply ends :o) Hope you're staying warm!
ReplyDeleteHey Anna!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! I bought almost all of my milk glass on eBay! You can get some good deals on it that way...it seems like every antique shop I find it in, it's always super expensive!!
Love your adorable blog!
Such cute ideas, and I love the thought of using an old dictionary or book for crafting! Thanks for sharing! And I hope your first year of kindergarten is going well. My first year was in kindergarten as well, and I don't know if I would go back, ha! I teach 5th now. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet! I am with you on the sun melting the snow... I am ready for it to be gone!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Making It With Allie! I can't wait to see what you have for next week!
