Sunday Hiking

Happy August friends! I can't believe July is already gone and we're now in back-to-school month. I'm trying not to think about it :o)
Our Sunday yesterday was absolutely delightful due to being able to just relax and then doing something I've been bugging Brandon about doing for a while. For our 1 year anniversary we spent the day hiking and picnicking at Hanging Rock State Park, but we failed to hike the trail the park's known for, Hanging Rock Trail. I've wanted to go back and hike it pretty much every week since then so yesterday we finally did...

This sign was a bit of an exaggeration

It was a very hot, very uphill climb. When we arrived at the top we were dripping with sweat and disappointed with the view. This is what we hiked all this way for???

Then we realized we weren't at the end of the trail yet (dummies), so we climbed the rest of the way and were met with this. Totally worth the hike.

It was thundering a lot so we didn't stay at the lookout nearly as long as we would have liked (something about being very high up and exposed it's good if it starts lightning). On our way back down the trail it got very dark and started thundering more and raining. We attempted to out run the rain. God was so good to us and kept the storm away long enough for us to take our hike.
When we got home we were wet, tired, and very happy. Little day trips are such a blessing.
