From my little kitchen: Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream

Meet our new ice cream maker...

I recently found our new friend on clearance for $9 (thanks Target!). I've had so much fun trying different ice cream recipes and Brandon's had so much fun eating them. Yesterday Brandon had a meeting at work in the morning, which is 30 minutes away, came home for a little while and then had to go back until late last night. I figured before he went in for a second time he might need a special little-pick-me. Cookies 'n Cream ice cream is a perfect pick-me-up.

Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream

1 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup half and half
1/3 cup whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 Oreo cookies (I use the cheap version)

Mix all ingredients except the cookies in a bowl until well mixed and pour into the ice cream maker. Turn on the ice cream maker and let it do its job. When the ice cream has reached the desired consistency crush up the cookies and add them in. Let the ice cream maker turn a few more minutes. Remove the ice cream from the ice cream maker and serve or store in a covered container in the freezer.

Helpful tip
Our ice cream maker requires that the container part be very cold to make ice cream. I've found it works best when it's been chilled in the freezer over night.
