First Jack-O-Lanterns

I think everything about the first year of marriage is extremely exciting. Our first apartment, our first set of dishes, first holiday season together. Even mundane things like our first toilet brush and first vacuum together are exciting. Tonight marked the date of our first time getting to carve jack-o-lanterns together. My pumpkin was a nice fresh one but my poor husband got the one I had already opened up with my kindergartners a few days ago. It was a tad smelly and brown on the inside. I was sweet though and helped him scoop out the foul smelling mushiness so that he could carve. It was the least I could do. After carving them we set them on our little porch so that we can see their glowing faces from the couch.

My pumpkin ended up looking a bit deranged. I think it's the huge toothy grin and the crazy eyes that give that impression.

My husband's looks much cuter and you can't even tell it's yucky on the inside. In this case, it's what's on the outside that matters.

One of the candle holders I made to add a cozy glow to our porch.
